PROJECT
Hockeystick is a developer of software platform that connects a firm’s financial data directly to the venture capital, private equity and innovation ecosystems. Hockeystick will leverage its existing data and client relationships to release Canada’s most complete database about the private market. This database will contain data about companies, funds, lenders and government programs and provide both a rich user interface and direct access via application programming interfaces (APIs). No such database currently exists making it impossible to analyze private markets. It is also impossible for companies and funders to efficiently find each other. Making this database public will solve that problem and create a powerful sales and marketing lead generator for Hockeystick’s platform.
PROJECT SUMMARY
SOFII provided funding for working capital to hire engineers especially data scientists, software developers and engineers with a background in machine learning. SOFII funding also allowed Hockeystick to continue marketing efforts related to the public database including content creation, multimedia design and social media and to target international opportunities including adapting their platform to different financial and regulatory environments.
