We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2024 Loans Manager Conference! It was an incredibly productive and collaborative event, where the importance of our shared mission truly shone through. Our Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) work together to provide critical support to entrepreneurs, and this event highlighted the power of our collaboration and the collective expertise within our network.

The conference kicked off with a warm welcome by Cyndy P. and Michelle C. from CFEO, who led introductions and a fun team-building activity, setting the stage for two days of insightful discussions and peer exchange. The SOFII Rural Presentation by Michelle C. was an excellent reminder of the opportunities we continue to create for rural businesses across Eastern Ontario.

A highlight of the event was the “Client Mindset – Growth Wheel” workshop, led by David Madie, CEO of GrowthWheel. His expertise in structuring business advisory services provided valuable tools for better supporting our clients’ growth journeys. Participants appreciated his engaging style and the practical application of the GrowthWheel framework.

In the spirit of collaboration, the Peer Council discussions facilitated by Michelle C. allowed our loan managers to exchange ideas and tackle common challenges. Judith Pineault’s presentation on Business Succession Planning was another standout session, offering actionable strategies for helping businesses plan for the future.

The second day of the conference continued with enriching sessions, including best practice sharing by Darren G. of Grenville on the Micro Loan Approval Process, followed by a panel on Impact Investing featuring Greg P. (ACCFutures), Katy M. (Bloom Local Food Fund), and Renee K. (Community Futures of Prince Edward Lennox Addington). Their insights provided much food for thought on innovative financing models to support our communities.

Brad R. of Community Futures of Prince Edward Lennox Addington also facilitated an inspiring panel featuring guest speakers from local businesses: Dropseed Nursery, and Scott’s Automotive. Hearing their stories of growth and impact reinforced the significance of the work our loan managers do.
